Product Details
Swami Vireshwarananda (1892–1985) was the revered 10th President of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, serving from 1966 until his Mahasamadhi in 1985. A monastic disciple initiated by Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi and receiving sannyasa from Swami Brahmananda, he represented a direct spiritual lineage. He worked initially at Advaita Ashrama, Mayavati, becoming its head in 1927, and later served as General Secretary from 1961, deeply shaping the Order's administrative and service activities from Belur Math. His presidency (1966-1985) was marked by significant growth, consolidating and expanding work in rural development (Pallimangal) and youth programs (Janashiksha), concretely translating Swami Vivekananda’s ideal of service. Swami Vireshwarananda was known for his calm, disciplined, yet affectionate nature. A thoughtful writer, he authored works like 'Amriter Sandhane' and 'Spiritual Life for Modern Times,' always urging devotees to blend inner spiritual practice with active societal service, drawing inspiration from Belur Math. This photograph captures his serene presence during this pivotal period of leadership.
