Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu

A detailed life of the great saint who is widely revered as an incarnation of God. This biography is compiled from authentic sources and removes many misconceptions prevalent about Sri Chaitanya's life and religion. Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is the greatest spiritual luminary of medieval India. At a time when the Hindu religion and society were being afflicted by foreign influences, his advent brought a new breath of life to this nation. Even today, his radiant, pure life inspires us with feelings of faith, devotion, detachment, and non-attachment. Although several biographies of Mahaprabhu are available in various Indian languages and English, the one composed in Bengali by the late Swami Saradeshananda, a senior monk of the Ramakrishna Order, holds a special place among them. The author states in his preface that the material for this work was primarily collected from ancient texts, thus making this biography exceptionally authentic. Through this work, a vivid and captivating portrait of Sri Chaitanya Deva emerges. The original Bengali work was made possible by the inspiration of Shrimat Swami Premeshananda, and Shrimat Swami Gambhirananda meticulously edited it from beginning to end. After its publication, this work became immensely popular, and several editions have been released since then. To enable Hindi-speaking readers to also benefit from this valuable work and to form a correct understanding of Mahaprabhu's life, its translation has been published serially in our Raipur center's monthly magazine 'Vivek Jyoti' for the past twelve years, and we now experience immense joy in publishing it as a book. We are grateful to Swami Videhatmananda, the editor of the Ramakrishna Order's Hindi monthly magazine 'Vivek Jyoti,' who, despite his extremely busy schedule, provided a fluent Hindi translation of the original Bengali work.
