This is a Hindi translation of the book 'How is a Man Reborn'. The doctrine of rebirth is familiar and accepted by all in a large part of Asia. It was universally believed in the Western countries before it was condemned and rejected by a council of Church dignitaries held at Constantinople in AD 544. Due to its rationality, this doctrine is now gaining wide acceptance again. Considering the propagation of scientific outlook in Eastern countries and the doctrine of rebirth in Western countries, it appears that a clear and concise analysis of it, in the background of modern biological research, would be interesting to many. "Rebirth - Why and How?" is such an analysis. The original English article "HOW IS A MAN REBORN?" was published in two installments in the July and August 1970 issues of the English monthly journal 'Prabuddha Bharata' (Awakened India). It has been published in booklet form for the benefit of the general public. Its author, Swami Satprakashananda, was a senior Sannyasin of the Ramakrishna Math. He founded the Vedanta Society of St. Louis, USA. We are grateful to him for granting permission to publish this book. The translation into Hindi has been done by Prof. Chamanlal. He is currently teaching in the Hindi department of Government College for Women, Srinagar (Kashmir). Swami Atmanandaji and Swami Muktidenandaji from the Ramakrishna Math provided special assistance in revising the manuscript. The author's discussion on rebirth makes it clear that the doctrine of rebirth has nothing to fear from modern scientific research. Rather, this doctrine explains many events that cannot be explained satisfactorily by scientific analysis or by any other doctrine. The doctrine of rebirth and its complementary doctrine of Karma have a direct relationship with a creative, meaningful, and responsible life.
