Eminent Indian Women

The pages of Indian history are illumined by the lives of saintly men and women radiating their brilliance from different spheres of action, covering millennia. This present book is an abridgment of the title 'Great Women of India' and provides in a brief compass an account of the exemplary women of character, piety, and renunciation who have ennobled the sacred land 'Bharat'. Short notes are presented on the lives of extraordinary women in Vedic times, in the Ramayana and Mahabharata, in Buddhism and Jainism, in the Middle Ages all across India, and up to the present age, culminating in a brief life sketch of Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, the divine consort of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa.
