This book is a collection of 13 clearly written articles on meditation that have been authored by 9 senior monks of the Ramakrishna Order, who have served in the West. Most of the teachings in the book, based on the Upanishads, were part of lectures and therefore have a personal appeal to the reader. The book starts with an introduction about the circumstances that should prevail before meditation. It then proceeds to give many useful instructions on how to control the waywardness of the mind and concentrate it upon the Reality within. The instructions are given as solutions to the common struggles of the aspirants. A compilation of prayers translated into English are given as an appendix for use in group meditation. The book is an introduction as well as a guide to meditation and is meant for English-knowing readers all over the world.
